ECDL – European Computer Driving Licence

Our school is an accredited European Computer Driving Licence centre. All students study the ECDLsyllabus throughout their time at St. Mary’s. In 2000 two state of the art computer rooms were opened as part of the new school.ECDL is a certificate that verifies your competence, declares your computer skills, and makes you readily mobile within Irish business and across the Community. Employers and job seekers all agree on the need for this standard definition of practical competence in Information Technology.Fifth Years are given the wonderful opportunity to complete the ECDL at only a quarter of the usual price. This is an invaluable certificate to have on ones CV as it is recognised all over Europe.
It enables one to study and take exams in areas such as:


  • Concepts of IT
  • File Management
  • Word Processing
  • Spreadsheets
  • Database
  • Internet and Email
  • Presentation

Students will have four modules completed by Christmas and will have the entire programme completed in Fifth Year.Currently there are almost 50 students taking ECDL in senior cycle
