Basketball

Our season started off with our Cadettes and Seniors competing in the BIPPS South League. Or Cadette team is made up of third year and transition year students and our Senior team includes Transition year students right up to leaving cert students. Our opposition included St Aidan’s, Cork, Coláiste Ghobnatan, St Mary’s, Macroom, Edmund Rice College, Carrigaline and Davis College, Mallow. While we had some excellent performances throughout these games we were very unfortunate not to progress to the knock out stages.

A huge thank you must go to our 6th year students who have been so dedicated to our school over the last five/six year. Emma Keirns, Riona Carroll and Abbie Fitzgibbon have all shown great dedication and determination on the basketball court. We would like to wish them all the best in the future.

After Christmas saw the start of the Minor and Junior games. Again we were competing in the BIPPS South league. Our Minor team is made up of 1st years where as our Junior team comprises of second year students. Both 1st and 2nd years had been training from early in the school year and were very eager to start their games. Our opposition included St Aidan’s, Cork, Coláiste Ghobnatan, St Mary’s, Macroom, Davis College, Mallow. Both teams had superb performances over the course of the league and did us very proud in St. Mary’s. These students represent their school to the highest standard. Well done girls. Again a big thank you must be given to Sophie Collins 5th Yr who helped out training the girls and running the clock and the table during our games. This help is very much appreciated.

Also well done to our TY students who organised a basketball tournament at lunchtimes for all our students. Some of teachers got involved and great fun was had by everyone.

That concludes our basketball for the year. Until next year. Keep practicing those skills ladies.
